8 Resolutions For 2018

Resolutions have always been steeped more in tradition than follow-through. In fact, only 8% of people now keep their New Year’s resolutions and only 3% even write them down. To help you be in the 8% that keeps their word, we’re sharing eight great business resolution suggestions for the new year.

1. PLAN! While it’s important to make your promises do-able, it’s also critical that you and your staff commit to them well before the ball drop begins.

2. STRATEGIZE. Business strategizing forces you to look beyond the day-to-day. Set aside time each week (not month or quarter) to review your strategies. Source: Business2Community

3. TIME. Attach a time frame to every goal. Make it both realistic and a bit challenging. Assign it a level of urgency, and predict, identify, and resolve setbacks or challenges along the way. Source: Forbes

4. PRICING. Think twice before cutting prices. It’s not usually the answer. One example? AT&T research found that half of millennials are willing to pay more to shop at a local small business and for a brand to which they’ve connected. Source: AT&T

5. MAIN STREET. Differentiate yourself by telling your “Main Street story.” Work with like-minded neighborhood enterprises and stress to the community the value of small business. Source: smallbiz daily

6. DO OR DROP. If you’ve been spending time on a product, relationship or technique that’s not working, the new year is the time to stop it. Move on. Something better always turns up. Source: The Balance

7. MARKETING MAYHEM. Avoid it by creating a 2018 promotional calendar. Divide it by quarters, but map out the entire year (leaving room for the unexpected). Decide when you will run your promotions about a product, program, annual event or celebration. Source: The New York Times

8. SECURITY: 2018 is bringing with it more hacking and theft. So, develop a security plan, a password system, and more. Source: Capterra

Beat the odds by creating resolutions that are attainable. And, stick with them!
